The USB performs its activities through units, built on research-field and geographical-area principles: Sections in Sofia and Branches in the country
The Sections are units in the capital, consisting of at least 25 members working in the same or similar research disciplines.
Presently 28 sections are functioning at the USB. Highlighted items have additional information on history, activities, governing bodies etc. Name of section and chairman and his/her CV, where available, are listed below.
