Main Guidelines for Preparing
Research Paper for
Publishing in Journal of Balkan
Ecology
(Title: Brief Title Expressing Essence of Paper not
more 12 words.)
Author(s):
ILIA D. CHRISTOV
Affiliation(s):
Institute or Department, Faculty,
University, Address, Fax, E-mail
Abstract. Please, apply 1.5 spacing for the hard copies
of your paper submitted to the Journal of Balkan Ecology.
(1) Formulate briefly the problem considered in the paper, using 2-3
sentences.
(2) Describe the main methodology: idea, methods, experiment treatments
and indices measured, using 2-3 sentences.
(3) Formulate the main results covering the aim reached of the paper,
using 2-3 sentences.
You
can use phrases such as:
(1). The paper deals with ...(for example: the
influence of factor 1 and factor 2 on the A process intensity).
(2) We used the index 1 and the index 2 to describe the influence of
factor A on process G. We applied the laboratory
method for determining the index 1. (3) We established that
...
Key
words: give 5-8 words
identifying the paper essence.
INTRODUCTION
Describe the problem considered in an extensive way.
Give main results obtained by different authors
in solving problems close to the problem considered in this paper, and cite
(Author, Year) or . (Author et al., Year). Cite the literature sources by name
and year of publishing, for example: (Betow et al., 2002).
Formulate the aim of the research. You can use
words such as: The paper is aimed at establishing ... (for example: the
influence of factor A on the process G).
MATERIAL AND METHODS
Formulate the idea or the approach used to solve the formulated problem.
Describe the experimental treatments applied
(or natural observations) to establish the searched regularity under given
conditions.
Announce the appropriate methods to be used for
measuring the indices, which determine the factors and their impact on the
process considered. Cite.
Describe the conditions, under which the
research was done.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Describe the obtained data systematized in tables and figures designated
as Table 1, Table 2, ... and Fig. 1, Fig. 2, ... and
cited in the paper text in this order.
Give interpretation of the regularities
established through the measured data directly and (or) using regression
equation (linear or other).
Explain the phenomenon (effect, influence,
impact, velocity change, etc.) using your knowledge on the process or using
information and interpretation given by other investigators.
Attach the measurement unit with every
physical, chemical and biological magnitude used by you in the research and
described in the paper. Write this unit after each magnitude given in tables
and figures.
Formulate the main and secondary regularities,
findings and establishments, and explain them from physical point of view, or
chemical or biological ones.
CONCLUSION
Formulate the main result of your research work: as a
regularity, or as a new model, or as a new approach, or as a new data on
the process considered.
Then, give the regularities of secondary significance,
established through the data obtained in your research.
Acknowledgements.

NOTES: Please, do not cite any
literature sources in the Abstract and the CONCLUSION. Please, use one and
the same word for a magnitude in the whole paper. Please, do not use
abbreviations, which are not explained using completely written words in
English. Please, translate the whole citation included in the REFERENCES into
English. No other languages in the REFERENCES are accepted.
Please,
apply 1.5 spacing for your papers submitted to the Journal of Balkan Ecology.
New
Requirements for Contributors
to the Journal of
Balkan Ecology
Contributions
reporting original research or reviews and analyses dealing with some aspects
of environmental quality in natural and agricultural ecosystems will be
considered from all disciplines by the Editorial Board. Ecological problem
under consideration must be clearly formulated.
Manuscripts
Title. A short title, being
written in bold small letters, not exceeding
15 words is required. It must accurately identify the manuscript content.
authors names are written in light
(not bold) capital letters.
Affiliation(s)
(if more than one must be
marked with a, b… superscript together with the AUTHOR FAMILY NAME) and complete address must be in italic.
Abstract. An informative, self-explanatory abstract, not exceeding 250 words, must be supplied. It should
include: a brief formulation of the problem considered; how it is solved using
description material, methods, treatments theories, etc.; and the main result
obtained. Key
words: give 5—10 words, which
are essential for the paper.
Introduction,
Material and Methods,
Results and Discussion,
Conclusion
References
are required as subtitles of a research paper. Appropriate subtitles
of a scientific
survey paper are necessary.
Short communications are welcome.
Tables. Each table must be on a
separate sheet. Tables are numbered consecutively.
Do not duplicate matter that is presented in figures.
Figures. Provide photographs glossy
prints with good dark and light contrast. Prepare drawings with dark, heavy
lines for quality printing. Write the abbreviation Fig. and Figs. only.
Avoid
writing or printing equations and sentences in Figs. Label each Fig.
with name of author, title of article and
number of the Fig. Original Figs. will not be returned to authors.
References
The literature sources are arranged alphabetically
by senior authors. The author-year system is preferred.
Do not
number the reference list. Citations should include names of all authors, year
of publication, complete title, publication or
journal title, volume, number, and inclusive
pages.
Single-authored
articles should precede
multiple-authored articles, for which the individual is senior author.
Two or
more articles by the same author(s) are
listed chronologically; two or more in the same year are indicated by the
letters a, b…located after the year.
All
published works referred to in the text must be listed in the reference list
and vice versa.
Only
literature that is available through libraries can be cited. The reference list
can include theses and abstract publications.
Material
not available through libraries, such as personal communications or privileged
data, should be cited in the text in parenthetical form.
Symposium
proceedings should include editor, date and place of symposium, publisher and
page numbers.
SUBMISSION OF PAPER
Two legible copies of each
manuscript must be supplied. The entire manuscript must be typed 1.5 spaced not
more 18 pages. The manuscript will not be
returned to authors.
3.5" Microdisk must be sent to the editor.
Disks should be formatted for MSDOS or
PC-DOS, running on IBM or compatible computers, with or without Windows.
MACINTOSH files and disks are not acceptable.
Revision of Manuscripts
Authors
have 1 month to make revisions and return
their manuscripts following reviewer and editor comments. If not returned
within 1 month, the manuscript will be
released; it must then be resubmitted as
a new paper.
Style Guidelines
Both the accepted common name and the chemical name of
pesticides must be given when first mentioned in the text. Similarly, the Latin
binomial or trinomial must be shown for all plants, insects, pathogens, and
animals as first listing the main text.
No abbreviations are accepted if unexplained.
INCLUSION
OF PAPER
The authors pay 80 EURO for publishing one accepted paper,
if their organization is not subscribed to the Journal. All scientists, working
at institutions subscribed to the Journal, can publish free of charge. The
editor will supply the senior author with 3 reprints free of charge. A single copy of
each issue of the Journal costs 50 EURO
plus bank expenses and postage.
