Partner profile

 

The Fundación Insula Barataria, created in 2000, is in charge of developing the information and knowledge society in the Spanish region of Castilla-La Mancha, and is composed by different regional bodies: Regional Government, and most specifically the Regional Ministry of Industry and Technology, Bank of Castilla-La Mancha and the University of Castilla-La Mancha.

 

The main objective of this non for profit organization is to promote and improve the use of new technologies, research and innovation, and to drive the information society technologies in Castilla-La Mancha.

 

Most of the action implemented are focused, on the one hand, on regional SMES, as for examples, ELECTRONIC COMMERCE PLATFORM, PORTAL OF INNOVATION, FORMATIC PROFESSIONALS, POL 360 Project, and, on the other, on citizens, as DIGITAL LITERACY, PUBLIC INTERNET ACCESS POINTS, PORTAL OF CASTILLA-LA MANCHA, CONECT@TE,

 

As for EU project, the FIB is involved in several EU projects. Mainly:

-          INTERREG III B Sudoe,

-          EQUAL and

-          VI Framework Program (Research & Innovation Area).

 

FIB aims as well at disseminating the European opportunities among regional actors as for Research and Innovation policy. FIB has prepared dissemination events whose aims were promoting the Innovation Technology for SME: Opportunities & Supports.

 

FIB is member and contact point of several national and European Networks in the framework of Research, Innovation and Information Society:

-          IRE. www.innovating-regions.org  

 

FIB has collaborated in several regional, national and European events organised by these European networks with the aims of presenting regional initiatives and projects, as good examples and exchanges of good practices for other European regions. Most significants were Paris, Budapest, Poitiers.

 

Its permanent involvement with Regional Administration, contribute to collaborate in preparing regional plans and programs, as for example the last Regional Plan for Scientific Research and Technological Innovation 2005-2010 PRINCET.

 

SPECIFIC INTEREST IN SOCIO ECONOMIC SCIENCE AND HUMANITIES

 

Taking into account the background of our action and projects implemented, FIB would like to contribute to the objectives of SSH line.

 

Area of interest are mainly:

 

-          8.1: Growth, employment and competitiveness in a knowledge society

-          8.3: Major trends in society and their implications.

-          8.6: Socio-economic and scientific indicators.
