Areas of current interest and expertise:
Testing of biological activity and safety of biological active substances
(drugs, hormones, environmental pollutants etc.) in vito and in vivo.
Analysis of proliferation, apoptosis, secretory activity and other functions
of treated cells and organisms. Studies of extra- and intracellular
mechanisms of action of these substances (role of protein kinases,
transcription factors, apoptosis-, proliferation- and cancer-related
substances by using pharmacological drugs and cell transfection with cDMA,
siRNA and miRNA constructs.
Studies
and application of hormones, growth factors, protein kinases and transcription
factors for prediction and control of animal and human reproduction, growth
and performance, for detection and treatment of some disorders (infertility,
cancer), for improvement of existing system of animal care (evaluation of
stress, of food quality etc.) and of biotechnological approaches (induction
of superovulation, oocyte IVM/IVF, embryo production, production of
transgenic animals, assessment of effects of GMO, bioassay of pharmacological
substances, drugs, toxic substances and other molecules affecting cell
proliferation, apoptosis, malignancy, reproduction, nutrition, metabolism
etc.). Methods currently used: cell culture, cell transfection with cDNA and
siRNA constructs, production and analysis of cDNA and RNA constructs and
transgenic animals, RIA/EIA/IRMA, RRA, immunocytochemistry, Western
immunoblotting, TUNEL, RT-PCR a.o.
