The Research Center - Intercollege

An independent non-profit-making institution associated with Intercollege, the Research Center - Intercollege, set up in 1993, has established itself as a pioneering and innovative think-tank through the quality of its work and its contribution to Cyprus and the broader area.  It has acquired an excellent reputation for the studies it conducts on economic, political, social and environmental issues, the organization of symposia, seminars, round-table discussions and international conferences and the publication of books, conference proceedings, policy papers, research reports and the scholarly journal The Cyprus Review.  Cyprus, the European Union, security and cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean and developments in the wider region are in the forefront of the Center’s work.

Specifically, its existence performs the purpose of servicing the public good through activities and contributions that widely inform and constructively impact the decision-making processes both at home and overseas where Cyprus is a concern. Additionally, it serves a secondary purpose of raising public awareness and the level of public debate for greater effective participation in the democratic process.

The Center also maintains strong links with academic and research institutions in other countries. It also collaborates with Intercollege for the coordination of the BA and MA Programs in European Studies and International Relations.

The Center carries out its activities through its five Units:

  • Unit of Economic, Social and Political Studies and Research
  • Unit of European and International Studies and Research
  • Unit of Turkish and Middle Eastern Studies and Research
  • Unit of Environmental Studies and Research
  • Unit of Strategic Studies and Research
