Project description

Tel Hai academic collage is one of the leading academic institutes in teaching environmental studies in Israel, and many of the lecturers are actively involved in environmental research. Interaction with the community is essential in promoting environmentally sound ideas. Therefore we propose to build at Tel Hai collage an open air living museum, to demonstrate and teach green technologies - their scientific background and possible uses. This museum will create direct connection between the academy and the community.

The exhibits will be designed by the students as a product of their graduation projects guided by the researchers teaching at the college and experts from the industry. The museum will be designated for a variety of visitors: the college students that will use the expeditions as educational aids in their environmental studies, pupils from the vicinity, teachers, professional groups, families and visitors from the whole country.

Professionally trained college students will guide the visitors in the museum, teaching and promoting environmental ideas, as part of their community commitment projects. The exhibitions will encourage the visitors to touch, try, play and learn with the working models, computerized simulations, videos, sculptures and real facilities.

The museum will be a center for live exhibition, academic and educational activities teaching issues like: the use of renewable energy resources, waste water treatment, waste recycling, green building and sustainable agriculture.

The museum will promote and reflect a unique model of cooperation between the academy, the industry and the community. The process of designing the exhibit, encouraging students from different academic units to cooperate with students and professors from the arts, communication and engineering faculties, in order to create- high standard, esthetic and scientifically viable exhibitions.
