Carol Perkins, Chair of the Department of Women’s Studies writes, “We want to nominate Penka Skachkova for this year's SBS Highlights of Teaching Award for Women's Studies. Penka has engaged students in a variety of "learn by doing" activities, including an oral history project with immigrant women in Blue Earth County. Her students have created collages and poster art that have been displayed in the Student Union. She fosters student creativity through her general education course assignments and she provides special enrichment to her classes through her global experiences and perspectives on learning.
