Attitudes and Evaluations Regarding the Importance and Role of Science and Scientific Research in

Abstract
The article
presents a brief analysis of the results of an empirical sociological survey on
the topic of Attitudes to Bulgarian
Science. The focus is on the views and assessments of Bulgarians concerning
the mission of Bulgarian science with regard to: increasing knowledge about the
world and society; implementing scientific achievements in life; developing the
educational level and culture of the nation; increasing the quality of life and
the social status of Bulgarian scientists. The main conclusion is that society
highly values the role of science for the prosperity of the nation and supports
the idea that there should be an adequate strategy and policy for social
management in this field.
