The Status of Higher Education of Some Central East European Countries

            The status of higher education is revealed by means of some indicators as “Expenditure on education”, “Expenditure on education per student”, ”Students per 1000 habitants”,” Share of women among tertiary students”, “Graduated in S&T fields of study and new PhD  per thousand population 20  to 29 aged”, “Mobility of students in Europe” Teaching staff”.  The conclusions are the following: expenditure on education  as percentage of GDP in Bulgaria is the lowest; women students, the staff of higher education and the professors in Bulgaria show trends to decrease; the  Graduated in S&T fields of study are increasing; the mobility of Bulgarian students comparing to the students of other Central East European countries is very high;  the staff with academic rang is decreasing.
